GSA Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh sent a message to a Kuwaiti Minister
General Sports Authority Chairman and Advisor in the Saudi Royal Court, Turki Al-Sheikh, released a statement regarding his frustration over the against Kuwait Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khalid Nasser Al-Roudan. It was tweeted after the meeting of the Minister and Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha.
Al-Sheikh tweeted: “Al-Roudan, in brief, is a mercenary under the umbrella of position and is also goes against proven facts. This mercenary will not affect the historical relations between Saudi Arabia and its sister Kuwait, and what he has said only represents him, as Modar poet said: If you want to know the souls, throw them money”
Al-Sheikh’s tweet came after Kuwaiti Minister Khalid Al-Roudhan appreciated the Emir of Qatar for his help and support to the lifting last month of FIFA’s suspension of the Kuwait Football Association. The delegation led by the Ministry also thanked Qatar for deciding to transfer the 23rd Gulf Cup to Kuwait.
Deputy Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah expressed his “regrets and admonishments” to the Saudi Ambassador to Kuwait on sentiments addressed to the Minister of Youth and Sport, Khalid al-Rodhan.
“We assert our rejection and astonishment at this insult because of its impact on the warm and distinguished fraternal relations between the two sisterly countries,” Jarallah at an Indian embassy reception.
The tweet that was in bad taste, shows the actual social media environment in the countries that block Qatar, where many officials and media commentators use foul language and false news to discredit other Gulf countries.
Although a lot of Kuwaiti in social media were seen expressing their anger at the Al-Sheikh Tweet, everyone hoped that this will be resolved soon.
